The Board of Trustees of the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) has elected two respected leaders to join its ranks. Dustin Moyer, CEO of Mountain Family Health, and Kevin Patterson, CEO of Connect for Health Colorado, will help to support CHI’s mission of strengthening communities and systems with trusted analysis and collaborative solutions to improve health.

“Kevin and Dustin bring expertise in key areas like health insurance coverage, policy, and the health care safety net, which will help deepen CHI’s work,” said President and CEO Sara Schmitt. “We are honored that they have committed their time and talent to helping CHI advance health and well-being.”

Moyer leads Mountain Family Health’s network of health care facilities in Western Colorado. He previously served as Director of Innovation at the Center for Improving Value in Health Care and spent seven years in policy and program roles at the Colorado Health Foundation. He has also worked for two state Medicaid agencies, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing and the Kansas Health Policy Authority. He holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

Patterson oversees Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance marketplace. He was previously Chief Administrative Officer and Interim Chief of Staff to Governor John Hickenlooper and served as Interim Executive Director for three state agencies during periods of leadership transition. Patterson also held leadership roles in several departments in the City and County of Denver. He earned a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado Denver.

“CHI has an ambitious vision and a dedication to informing evidence-based health policy in Colorado,” said Board Chair Jeff Moser. “Dustin and Kevin bring the leadership skills and experience to ensure that CHI continues to improve health and well-being in our state.”
