Jay Nakashima served as President and Executive Director of eHealth Exchange for eight years. He led the company’s public-good efforts to improve patient care, public health, and healthcare administration by ensuring patients’ medical details were securely provided to trusted healthcare providers and public health agencies across the United States. Under his direction, the company grew dramatically and data exchange increased by 100,000%. eHealth Exchange is the largest health information network in the U.S., operating in all 50 states and processing more than 20 billion transactions annually.  

Jay began his career at IBM Japan in Tokyo in 1988. After leaving IBM for graduate school, he transitioned to a health information technology career where he occupied a variety of senior posts and acquired broad experience and knowledge in clinical workflows, artificial intelligence, privacy laws, cybersecurity, and financial management. He held leadership roles at electronic health record software companies, a national kidney medical provider, and a health insurance company. 

Jay earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Drake University. He holds a healthcare privacy expert certification, a healthcare cybersecurity expert certification, and eight technology profession certifications.
