A Strong Close to Summer at CHI

It’s an exciting close to summer at the Colorado Health Institute with a number of new publications set to be released in the coming weeks.

First up, Colorado is celebrating its fifth annual Safety Net Clinic Week to support and advocate for the state’s 38 Community Safety Net Clinics and 51 federally certified Rural Health Clinics. The week is sponsored by ClinicNET and the Colorado Rural Health Center.

To do our part, CHI will release an updated safety net database and maps to complement the data. New for this year, the CHI mappers have put together an interactive map of clinics around the state that allows the user to see which clinics are located in their community and click on individual clinics to learn more.

Look for a blog from Director of Research on Coverage and Access Jeff Bontrager to tell you more about this suite of safety net tools from CHI.

Along with these new publications, we are tweeting (@cohealthinst) past versions of our publication Food for Thought – the summary document from CHI’s Safety Net Advisory Committee (SNAC) meetings – each day of Safety Net Clinic Week. You can view all past Food for Thought publications as well as agendas and presentations from SNAC meetings here.

In case you missed it last week, here are link to our new materials released in recognition of National Community Health Center Week:

We will also have an insight later this week from Public Interest Fellow Sara Robbins on mental health and suicide in Colorado. If you haven’t yet, be sure to read Research Analyst Hannah Wear’s back-to-school insight on school breakfast and lunch programs.

In another piece of exciting news, our CEO and president, Michele Lueck, is one of three finalists for Denver Business Journal’s Outstanding Women of the Year in the health care category. The winners will be announced at a luncheon Thursday.
