Information When You Need It from CHI
Here at the Colorado Health Institute, we strive to communicate important health policy data and information in an accurate and timely manner.
Lately, this has meant providing analysis of data on the same day it is released.
Last week, we published a Colorado-specific analysis of new 2013 uninsured estimates from the American Community Survey and the Current Population Survey. These surveys, along with the Colorado Health Access Survey, provide a last look at health insurance coverage before the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The American Community Survey brief provides uninsured rates for different demographics as well as large county and city estimates. In another effort to deliver fast and reliable information, senior communications expert Joe Hanel wrote a brief that delves into today’s release of the 2015 health insurance rate filings from the Colorado Division of Insurance.
Joe will also have another installment of our new publication, Policy Examiner, following today’s meeting of the Colorado Commission on Affordable Health Care. You can read the first edition from the Commission’s August meeting here.
Aside from delivering break health insurance news early this week, the CHI team will be busy at various conferences around the state.
CEO Michele Lueck and research analyst Natalie Triedman will attend “Engaging Communities in Education and Research: Cultivating Campus-Community Partnerships for a Healthy Colorado.” The conference in Vail will bring together health care providers as well as University of Colorado faculty and researchers to discuss the increased demand of health care in the state. Michele and Natalie will present on five health care trends CHI sees on the horizon.
Amy Downs, Senior Director for Policy and Analysis, will present at Colorado Health Data Day hosted by the Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC). Data Day provides participants with information on available data resources to inform their work. Amy will discuss resources available from CHI as well as our role in explaining what that data means and why it matters.
Anna Vigran, senior analyst and CHI’s behavioral health expert, will attend the Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council’s 47th Annual Behavioral Health Training Conference in Breckenridge. This year’s conference – “The New Healthcare Frontier: Innovation, Value and Transformation” – will focus on the opportunities and challenges in increasing value and managing costs through innovation.
