Getting Closer to Reaching Our Peak

Watch for Wednesday’s release of our annual evaluation of efforts across the state to help make Coloradans and Colorado’s communities healthier. “Reaching Our Peak 2014: Scorecard for a Healthier Colorado” will make its debut at the Colorado Health Symposium at Keystone.

Sara Schmitt, Director of Community Health Policy, led the CHI team that analyzed the impact of policy changes, program development and politics on five key focus areas for health improvement work – schools, the workplace, communities, the health care delivery system and the places where we age.

Along with measuring progress – or lack of progress, in some cases – over the past year, the report highlights innovative programs throughout the state that are tackling tough issues.

This is the third consecutive year that CHI has timed the release of a publication for the Colorado Health Foundation’s symposium. We know that it’s a great place to reach the top leaders and the best thinkers in Colorado’s health policy community. CHI’ers, including CEO Michele Lueck, will be handing out the report.

New for this year, and inspired by the 2014 conference theme of “Health Transformed: The Power of Engagement,” we are inviting symposium attendees and others to submit ideas for programs and community efforts to include in future Reaching Our Peak publications.

The report will be available on our website Wednesday morning. Follow us on Twitter @cohealthinst to learn more about the report – and to view our tweets from the symposium.

Last week, a meeting of the Safety Net Advisory Committee (SNAC) brought together providers, advocates and community leaders to discuss access to care and immigrant health. We will post the agenda and presentation from the meeting later this week. Below, Senior Analyst and Communications Specialist Anna Vigran presents to a full house.
