Sherry Freeland Walker joined the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) in May 2005 as the director of communications. In that role, Sherry leads the development of strategic communications initiatives to ensure that CHI information and data resources are disseminated to those individuals and organizations that can make the greatest impact on Coloradans' health. She also serves as the main CHI media contact and has editorial oversight and direction of publications, the Web site and electronic communications. Sherry is a member of CHI’s executive team.
Prior to joining CHI, Sherry worked for 18 years with the nonprofit Education Commission of the States (ECS), a national policy clearinghouse of state information about K-12 and higher education. At ECS, Sherry initially served as chief editor and writer and was responsible for all aspects of product development. Later, she assumed responsibility for media relations and the Web site and served on the senior leadership team. She has a BA in journalism and a minor in German from Louisiana State University.
