Medicare Healthcare Cost Report Information System (HCRIS)
The Healthcare Cost Report Information System (HCRIS) dataset contains provider information such as
facility characteristics, utilization data, cost and charges by cost center in total and for Medicare. The dataset consists of every data element included in the HCRIS extract created for CMS by a provider's fiscal intermediary. Financial statement data and reimbursement data are included.
Medicare Hospital Service Area File
This database can be used to define hospital service areas for Medicare addmissions. The file contains the number of discharges, length of stay and total charges summarized by provider number and ZIP code of patient's residence.
State Ambulatory Surgery Databases
The State Ambulatory Surgery Databases (SASD) are a powerful set of databases that capture surgeries performed on the same day in which patients are admitted and released. They contain the ambulatory surgery encounter abstracts in 27 participating states, including Colorado, translated into a uniform format to facilitate multi-state comparisons and analyses.
All of the databases include abstracts from hospital-affiliated ambulatory surgery sites. They contain a core set of
clinical and nonclinical information
on all patients, regardless of payer, including persons covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and the uninsured.
The databases are developed as part of the
Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project, a family of health care databases and related software tools and products developed through a federal-state-industry partnership sponsored by ARQH.
State Inpatient Databases (SID)
The State Inpatient Databases (SID) are a powerful set of hospital databases from data organizations in 39 participating states, including Colorado. The SID contain the universe of inpatient discharge abstracts, translated into a uniform format to facilitate multi-state comparisons and analyses.
Together, the SID encompass about 90 percent of all U.S. community hospital discharges and include a core set of clinical and nonclinical information on all patients, regardless of payer.
The databases are developed as part of the
Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project, a family of health care databases and related software tools and products developed through a federal-state-industry partnership sponsored by ARQH.
