Workforce Supply and Demand Analysis

One component of planning for future workforce needs in Colorado is an adequate assessment and estimation of demand and supply requirements. With support from The Colorado Trust, CHI is analyzing the supply of and demand for physicians in Colorado.

The study focuses on primary care physicians in addition to a number of specialty care physicians. CHI is using two components of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Supply and Demand forecasting models to predict physician supply and demand: Physician Requirement Model and Physician Supply Model. Additionally, CHI is adjusting the underlying data in both models to create a Colorado-specific model to estimate the supply of physicians and physician graduates in the state.
