Description or Purpose
The cancer registry was established to educate health professionals, policymakers and citizens regarding specific cancer risks, to answer public questions about cancer statistics, to help focus cancer control activities in the state, to monitor the occurrence of cancer, to aid in research studies, to monitor the effectiveness of treatment, and to help develop health services and screening programs.
Case Definition:
A case is defined as a newly diagnosed cancer in a Colorado resident, except non-melanoma skin cancers and carcinoma in situ of the cervix. Cases are reported by Colorado hospital tumor registries, pathology labs, Colorado physicians, death certificates, and surrounding states that diagnose or treat Colorado cancer patients.

Can I request analysis?
Yes, requests may be directed to 303-692-2540 or to cdphe.pscaregistry@state.co.us. Online analysis can be done through the Colorado Health Information Data Set (CoHID), an interactive Web-based system that provides health and demongraphic data from a variety of data sets, including cancer registry information. Summary statistics and reports are available at the county level.

Yes, research requests on identifiable information must be reviewed by department staff. For a data request form or more information, please contact cdphe.pscaregistry@state.co.us.
