2008–09 Colorado Household Survey Research File
The COHS research data file contains all data elements collected at the time of the survey for the randomly selected individual from the randomly selected household, as well as several created and imputed variables. The research file is available to researchers who have received approval from the Colorado Household Research Review Committee to use the micro–level data from the COHS for legitimate research purposes.
Prospective researchers must submit an application for access to the COHS data to the Colorado Health Institute (CHI). Each application will be reviewed by the Colorado Household Survey Research Review Committee. Criteria for project approval include the following: feasibility, scope, expertise, risk of disclosure of confidential information, and consistency with the purpose of the COHS. Researchers are encouraged to develop their proposal in consultation with the staff at CHI.

2008–09 Colorado Household Survey Public Use File
The COHS public use file (PUF) is available for free to researchers and data analysts for health–related research. The file is available in SAS, SPSS, Excel or comma separated format (.csv) and can also be requested on CD (processing and shipping charges apply to CD orders). In order to protect the confidentiality of the COHS respondents, the PUF can only be used to generate state level estimates and rural-urban estimates. Users of the COHS PUF must register and sign a Data Use Agreement before the file can be accessed or delivered by mail. This agreement commits the user to make appropriate use of the data while taking precautions to protect respondent confidentiality.
