Sue Birch, MBA, RN

Sue Birch is executive director of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) in Steamboat Springs. With the Northwest Colorado VNA for the past 15 years, she has been instrumental in expanding programs, developing strategic partnerships and strengthening operations. The agency is moving into a nurse-led model of integrated community health services including primary care, home and hospice care, public health and aging services.

Prior to moving to Northwest Colorado, Sue served at Georgetown University Hospital and in a variety of progressive nursing roles with Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. Currently, she is a clinical instructor for the University Of Colorado School Of Nursing, an advisor to the University of Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a senior advisor to Fulcrum Associates. Sue is also a trustee of Caring for Colorado Foundation, past president of the Home Care Association of Colorado and is completing an appointment to the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services.

Sue recently completed the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Livingston Fellowship and the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship. She and her husband are parents of three teenagers.
