Jean Jones

Jean C. Jones has 25 years of successful experience as president/CEO of Girl Scouts - Mile Hi Council, the 15th largest of over 300 U.S. councils, serving more than 26,000 girls and 7,000 adults. At Mile Hi Council, Jean played a key role in increasing membership numbers and reaching out to all girls, regardless of racial, cultural and socioeconomic boundaries. In an effort to keep Girl Scouting contemporary, Jean created a program that includes traditional activities such as camping, selling cookies and community service, and adds contemporary activities such as using a computer and learning how to make an electrical circuit. Jean also created the Women of Distinction program to bring together Girl Scouts and women who are corporate and community leaders to serve as role models for girls.

In addition to CHI, Jean’s current community involvement includes serving as a Mountain States Employers Council board member, Colorado Division of Insurance Consumer Advisory Council member, Rotary Club of Denver Foundation and Samaritan Institute Foundation trustee, and Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame honorary board member.

Her community services include past commissioner and chairman of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, past board chairman and trustee of The Colorado Trust, past president of the Women’s Forum of Colorado, past (and first woman) president of the Rotary Club of Denver, past president and treasurer of the Junior League of Denver, and past officer and board member of the Samaritan Institute.

Jean holds a bachelor of science degree in history, social studies and secondary education from Northwestern University.
