Christine joined the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) in June 2009 as a research analyst. In January 2010, she was promoted to Interim Workforce Program Manager. She is working on data collection and analysis of several health profession workforce projects. The 2009 Nurse Faculty Study and Comprehensive Portrait of Colorado’s Nursing Workforce report are two examples. Christine also provides technical expertise and data analysis on several other projects at CHI as well.
Before coming to CHI, Christine worked in the Health Statistics Unit at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). In her internship at the CDPHE, Christine analyzed birth and death records to provide descriptive and inferential statistics to support data-driven decision making for population-based program planning.
She also worked as an intern in collaboration with Tri-County Health Department and LiveWell Commerce City on a community-based project to educate and involve the community in environmental changes that promote active physical activity. Before attending graduate school, Christine worked for several years promoting health and wellness in long-term care, in a hospital and in fitness facilities. One of her major professional and life goals is to improve the public’s health.
Christine earned her master’s in public health degree from the Colorado School of Public Health, University of Colorado Denver. She holds a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science from Colorado State University. She received several scholarships to earn her bachelor’s degree as she was the first in her family to attend college. As a certified group exercise instructor, Christine teaches a core strengthening class for CHI employees as part of CHI’s wellness program.
Christine’s love of the outdoors made moving to Colorado from her home state, Massachusetts, in 1996 easy for her. Christine is married and has two daughters, ages 3 and 5. Christine’s husband is an assistant professor at the University of Denver in the School of Mass Communications & Journalism Studies.
Christine’s interests include biking, hiking, camping, traveling and protecting the environment. As a way to reduce their carbon footprint and improve the overall health of the planet, Christine and her family will be installing solar panels on their house this summer. They also plan to purchase an electric car which they will power with the sun energy generated by the solar panels and which will have zero emissions.
