Allison Summerton

 Allison Summerton
Allison joined the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) in September 2009 as a research associate. Since then, she has prepared materials on health care reform for the health policy roundtables for legislators and has assisted with the data collection and analysis related to Colorado’s health care safety net. Allison is currently researching public and private spending on children’s oral health care in Colorado.

Prior to joining CHI, Allison worked in Washington, DC as a project manager and research analyst for a public policy consulting firm where she analyzed proposed spending and policy changes in federal income security and health care programs. In addition, Allison helped develop legislative proposals and cost models for federal retirement and national disability programs.

Allison earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Community Planning, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Delaware. Allison has worked in a range of social services from casework for disabled clients and counseling for impoverished youth to federal program analysis.

Allison is married with three daughters. She enjoys supporting her community by volunteering at her children’s schools, at church and participating in local civic activities. She also enjoys biking, hiking and skiing with her family and friends.
